What platform do you use for hosting my website?
To get your site online as quickly and reliably as possible, we primarily use modern deployment platforms like Netlify. This allows us to leverage a high-speed global network for excellent performance and security. All hosting is fully managed by JWS, so you get the benefit of top-tier infrastructure without any of the complexity.
Who owns my website and hosting account?
You, the client, are the owner of your website content and domain name. For hosting, we set up and manage the deployment on platforms like Netlify to provide you with a seamless, stress-free experience. Our goal is to transparency and your complete control over your assets. Should you ever choose to move your site, we facilitate a smooth handover of all your website files. What if my website needs more resources than the standard hosting plan offers?
Our standard $10/month hosting plan is designed to generously accommodate the needs of most small business websites. If your website's traffic or resource requirements grow to a point where they incur additional costs from the underlying platform (like Netlify's pro tiers), we will discuss this with you transparently. Any such additional costs would be passed on to you, but only after prior notification and agreement. Our aim is to keep your hosting affordable and predictable.
What does "all work done by me personally" mean for my project?
It means that I, Randy Johnson, will be your direct point of contact and the primary developer working on your website. This ensures consistency, direct accountability, and a deep understanding of your project from start to finish. It allows me to combine my technical skills with my business background (BBA) to deliver a site that truly aligns with your goals. No outsourcing means you get a dedicated, personal service.

Website Hosting
Johnson Website Solutions (JWS) provides fully managed web hosting. We use modern deployment platforms like Netlify to launch your site quickly with high performance, security (including SSL certificates), and reliability. This approach allows for rapid deployment, which is how we get you online fast. We may also use foundational cloud services like AWS for backend needs where appropriate.
Account Ownership & Access
While JWS manages the website deployment on platforms like Netlify for client convenience, you (the client) retain full ownership of your website content and domain name. We are committed to transparency. Should you decide to terminate our hosting services, we will provide a complete package of your website's files and database, facilitating a smooth handover for migration to another provider.
Domain Renewal Costs
While our standard domain renewal fee is $25 per year, some TLDs (like .io, .tech, .agency) carry higher registry costs. We’ll always notify you of any extra charges before renewal.
Billing for Hosting & Platform Costs
Our standard monthly hosting fee is designed to cover typical resource usage. If your website's traffic or use of advanced features consistently exceeds these allowances and incurs additional costs from the third-party platform (e.g., upgrading to a paid tier on Netlify), JWS will:
- Notify you in advance of any potential overages or required service upgrades.
- Discuss options and seek your approval before any additional charges are incurred.
- Pass through these direct platform costs to you, in addition to your standard JWS hosting management fee.
Service Agreement
Upon engagement, you will receive a detailed service agreement outlining the full scope of work, deliverables, payment terms, timelines, policies regarding revisions and ongoing support, and specific terms related to hosting and third-party services. We encourage you to review this agreement carefully. This summary provides an overview, but the formal service agreement will govern our engagement.
